Victor: I am not against killing. I just like to know why the killing must be done. I like to know who is going to be killed. I like to know the consequences of the killing. Some of our killing is absurd. Some of it has proven to be necessary. The killing we are going to do in Iraq might be needed -- but the consequences of doing it alone are much worse than the consequences of doing it with the UN -- both in terms of dead US soldiers and in terms of stabilizing Iraq and the region after the first round of killing is done. My position is and has been, if we are going to kill in Iraq, lets be clear about why, lets be clear about possible consequences, and lets be clear about how to limit the 'collateral damage' to ourselves and others. If I was a terrorist I would welcome a unilateral US invasion of Iraq. If I was a terrorist I would welcome as many US soldiers on Arab soil as possible. If I was a terrorist I would pray that Israel would get involved in the war. Terrorists feed off of propaganda -- we should not fuel terrorism with incompetent politics. Should we kill? Yes, we have left ourselves with few choices and now we must kill. But we should kill under the banner of the UN. And we should let the UN clean up the mess that is left behind after the killing is done. Our role is to kill. It is good to know that we are the best at killing. The whole world knows it. We kill with overwhelming force. We kill with the best technology. We kill with increasing precision. When it comes to killing, we are the champions of the world.
