Vitesse makes GaAs ICs using an all-implant process. They run a plain old GaAs wafer through a multi-step processing line (maybe 14-20 steps) in a fashion which is pretty similar to the way most Si chips are made.

ANAD & TQNT do the same thing. All three companies are making a type of transistor called a MESFET.

Aixtron and Emcore make epitaxial reactors. They are used to desposit more elaborate materials, such as AlGaAs and GaInAsP, on top of a GaAs wafer. You don't need to do this to make a MESFET, but you do need to do it to make other types of compound semiconductor devices, such as LEDs, lasers diodes, HBTs and HEMTs.

Does that help??
