Alighieri Re...There is something irritating about the way you distort what I say into what you would like my views to be to satisfy your political opinions and interpretations.<<

Distort??? If I was deliberately trying to distort your answers, why did I post them in the same post. I gave you my interpretation of them and asked you to clarify your position. If you were also against the Palestinians terrorism without qualifications, why not just say so.

I loathe OSB and the terror groups in Palestine who carry out attacks.<<<<<<<

Usually when I loathe someone or something, I quit supporting the cause they are trying to promote with violence. I have seen polls of the Palestinian people on TV, which show that the people themselves support the bombing. These bombings have a lot of support, and as a matter of conscience, I cannot support statehood for any class of people who promote violence and terror, period. The same goes for the Muslim terrorists, who seem to have the backing of the fundamentalist clerics. And by refusing to condemn and punish the clerics, the Muslim religion has condemned itself to the dustbin of history. Have you read the latest letter posted by OSB. It is clear that he is fighting anyone, and everyone who is not a Muslim. His terms for peace are so outrageous that war is the only solution; and the letter justifies GW's hardline stance toward all who promote the jihad. So don't cry to me when thousands, if not millions die in a futile effort to convert everyone into Muslims.

But to respond in kind against a people is to perpetuate this reciprocal killing and give it justification.<

You may be a fan of Ghandi's "kill some more, we look more sympathetic" theory, but I am not. In the first place, despite your proclamations to the contrary, justified violence does stop terrorism. Just look at Germany, who we, and the allies bombed into submission over 50 yrs ago. Has the German republic sent over terrorists to get even? Ditto with Japan. Both are friendly towards us, and everyone else in the world. Russia, whom we defeated in the cold war, is on far better terms with us now, than we could have hoped for 10 yrs ago, same with China. North Korea is trying, after yrs of isolation, to improve relations; Vietnam also. And look how effective a few bombs dropped upon Gadafy's tents have stopped his support of terrorism. Now, Libyia is reportedly going to pay compensation to the families of flight 103. In fact, name me one enemy, whom we have defeated over the yrs who have continued hostilities afterward. Letting people know you aren't going to take it anymore has been far more effective than non violent solutions, such as Chamberlain's appeasment of Hitler. In fact, I believe Clinton's try at peace failed for that very reason, that the Us and Israel looked too desperate for a deal, which led Arafat and his fellow terrorist organizations to believe they could hold out for a better deal.

<What is your idea of a solution? Spell out specifically how YOU would solve the problem in Palestine?

<<<<<

You don't solve it by begging. You solve it by showing the Arabs that the consequences of living with Israel will be far better than the costs of trying to destroy Israel. LIke it or not, Israel is here to stay so live with it. The same goes for Israel, peace is more valuable than more land, so settle with the Arabs. That said, how do we get there from here? For one we start by stopping the instigators of terrorism; by defeating Iraq we will stop one of the main supporters of the PLO and Hamas. By installing a democracy in the strongest military dictatorship, the weak dictatorships, Saudi Arabia monarchy and the clerics in Iran will be likely to ban support for terrorism to save their own hides. Without financial support , Hamas and PLO will die, because the governments will find it in their best interests to punish terrorists, not support them, much as Libyia has done with Carlos the Jackel. Without the terrorists, the Palestinian people will elect a gov. to sue for peace and live a peaceful co-existance.
