That FLQ manifesto sounds like the carping of every group of would-be despots who cannot get a following. With changes for different times and circumstances, it could have been written by Hitler or Lenin. The mass of the people have been duped by their masters and don't know what's best for them; we do.

It reminds me of the situation of the US vis a vis Puerto Rico. There is a small group of rabid leftwing rebels there who desire independence. The question has been put to a vote several times and lost badly each time. Still they persist in believing they know what is best for the Puerto Rican people. (Puerto Ricans have US citizenship and may enter and leave the US freely.)

A preoccupation with image, promotion of national unity and future political fall-out is omnipresent in the documents.
Ah, yes, sounds like politicians everywhere, doesn't it?

It appears Mr. Chrétien (see that accented é? :-) ) is not one of those who think Quebec would be better off minus the rest of Canada.
