Ah. Here is where I think the problem lies. From a legal point of view it does not qualify as a lie if the speaker thinks what they are saying is true.

"She thought I was saying that..."

If it were definitely and verifiably not true the best it could qualify as would be a misunderstaning or a mistake. Until the speaker became convinced that it was untrue it doesn't constitute a lie.

Assuming that you are now fessing up to what your actual plans were; it seems that sharing information about what was actually going on; (Dealing with the ISP or what ever) might have helped to clear this up and defuse it to some extent. The vagueness of your original comments and the tone sounded pretty threatening.

So, the allegations on your part that E was lying were an innacurate depiction and the accusation from E that you were threatening to sue was innacurate as well. By maintaining vagueness you contributed to the scenario; based on the plausibility that you are being totally truthful at this point. IMO
