"How many times have I said that it was wrong, and I was so sorry! Have you totally lost it?" IMO the typical human being would accept this type of oppology. Even if they could not befriend you as a result they would be willing to move on and let it be a by gone. X is a withholder, it gives her power and all. I don't see the issue getting worked out, sorry to say. In this case I think it is a lost cause and if there is any possible way to just let it go that would be the next best thing to resolving it.
