HANOI, Nov 26, 2002 (AsiaPulse via COMTEX) -- The Hanoi-based Informatics
Development Co Ltd (IDC Group) has tied up with Hewlett Packard to market and
distribute the latter's imaging and printing hardware in Vietnam, the companies
revealed last week.

Under the deal, IDC will become the main distributor of Hewlett Packard (HP)
imaging and printing products, a move the latter expects will realise its
objective of reaching all market segments in the country.

"We are confident that this will be a breakthrough for both HP and IDC in
Vietnam," said David Ong, marketing director of HP's Imaging and Printing Group,
Vietnam and Asia Emerging Countries.

"I strongly believe that the customers will appreciate our efforts to provide
them not only with more state-of-the-art technologies but also with more choices
of where, how and when to buy our products."

While HP accounts for only 4 per cent of the global US$20 billion digital
printing industry, it has been the number one in the US$2-billion Asia-Pacific
imaging and printing market, particularly for printers, scanners and print
servers.

With a booming IT market and population of 80 million, Vietnam is a strategic
and potentially large market for HP imaging products, Ong said.
