We can never resolve it. I can never make up to her for sending those two or three emails to her when we were both upset. I'm only glad there were no threats in them, I would feel so much worse. No apologies can ever be great enough to erase the discomfiture she clearly experienced in those few minutes, reading my distressed defense of a mutual friend. Unwelcome messages can be, truly, traumatic. Even if there are only a couple, and they're from an upset former friend, and they contain nothing threatening, nothing sexual, still they can be very traumatic to a sensitive person, and there's nothing I can do to take away that pain. I'm afraid she will never be able to forgive me. A lifetime can be lived in mere minutes, so to her maybe a few minutes might have felt like months.
