I have two friends, both 50+, both unemployed, no chance in the living hell to get a job. It's an unwritten fact, that once you're over fifty, you're simply not employable anymore - given twice 30 years of job experience those two have to offer, I cant figure out, what's the reason (sg).

So much about the young being kept out of the job market.

And then this discussion going on about extending the working years beyond 65. Firing up the young against the old, black against the white, men against women is just a "keep-them-busy" strategy. Because it's not a zero-sum game.
