Turkey will never be admitted into the EU. You will see.

Besides, if ever it is to be admitted, it has a million laws to pass and a million things to conform to. So it would be European by the time (if ever) Turkey is admitted into the EU.

Don't forget that Greece and Portugal were flat-out dictatorships not long before being admitted into the EU. The Union has a way of making its candidates conform to its standards. Carrot and stick, remember? Works better when you don't beat the country first, imho <g>

Last I heard, it was the European Union that was considering admitting Turkey, so you can spare us your high and mighty moralizing concerning support of that "regime".

You are being unnecessarily emotional. This is not "high and mighty moralizing". I am only pointing out that the existence of systematic torture in Iraq cannot be sufficient grounds to justify its invasion, since there seem to be no plans to invade Turkey for the very reason.
