Pavlov19,

I think I finally taught my Chaser to be a Retriever.

Yesterday was a major break through day.

I accidentally kicked his squeeze toy across the room and he brought it back to me (or within 5 feet of me).
I praised him and told him what a good boy he was.

Then I threw it again and brought it back again.

I repeated the process until he had enough and couldn't stand to hear the words, "Good Boy" said one more time.

Then afterwards he really amazed me.

Later we were watching TV and he nudged me in a way that sorta said, "Could you take me outside?"

I looked at him in disbelief as I saw the light bulb flicker over his small furry head.

When he started dancing after I asked him, "You wanna go out?" I felt I had finally made a real break through with this dog.

My carpets have been poop-free for nearly 48 hours.

<Clappy knocks on wood as to remove the jinx he just placed upon his carpets...>

The only problem so far about my beagle learning to be a retriever is that he's gained 75 pounds, sheds like crazy, and answers to a different name.

Hopefully the neighbors don't realize that their retriever lost 75 pounds, has large floppy ears, and has become a shitting machine.

<VBG>

Just kidding, but I must say I'm one proud puppy owner.
