So because "no one intervened in favor of Chechenia, because no one opposed the Chineses in Thibet, or because no one is invading Israel"; IYO Saddam should be excused or left alone to built any empire he can achieve with the help of his billions, hundred of millions of Muslims, thousands of AQ, couple of nukes, tonnes of bios, half a dozen Saudi princes etc.

Not any more. Pax Americana has covered the non communist world, and IMO it it much better that way. Saddam is only number two on Bush black list, and remember, not only did he tell us how long his list is, he also said that time was not a matter.

It just happens that if America wants democracy everywhere, it's because they like that personal freedom concept.

Your observation that "domestic tragedies never really matter elsewhere" is incorrect. Kosovo, Somalia, Haiti had no financial value for America whatsoever, but they did intervene.

Only because they are idealists. Dreamers, you could even say. But dreamers with means, focus and determination... and a project!
A project no free thinker can oppose unless he brings a better one.

That's what our new world is about, and it didn't start with OBL or even Saddam's Koweiti takeover, but with the Hiro Hito-Yamamoto cruise.
