I agree with most of that until you said this:

Anybody who places trust in anybody here on SI until they have good reason to have established that trust is, IMO, so foolish and irresponsible as to deserve what they get. Neo and I have been over this, and I realize we disagree, and maybe you and I do too, but I think that to place any trust at all in a person you have never met and know only by their postings on the internet is the height of folly.

Fortunately my children have never been tempted into chat rooms on the internet, but if they had been, I would have done my damndest to have made absolutely, positively sure that they never trusted anybody they met there until they had established a good reason for doing so. Anything short of that would be dangerous folly. I hope that if your daughter surfs the chat rooms you have taught her likewise. If not, immediately leave your computer and do not return until you have drummed that into her head. I'm serious.
