Fair enough. Possibly others see something yet beyond my horizon. This is why SI is my friend :)

Perhaps this is it:

9:27AM Novellus sees improved demand: Fechtor (NVLS) 36.25: Research firm Fechtor Detwiler reportedly saying that NVLS has seen increased demand for its surface preparation tools during the first half of the quarter; Fechtor believes this is indicative of better than expected shipments in Q4 and bookings in Q1, but sees this as NVLS-specific rather than an industry recovery.

If NVLS is not positive in its mid-quarter conference call this afternoon, I am selling calls.

Comparing NVLS to the "market" is similar to comparing the produce at the finest organically grown stand to the produce garbage piled in the alley outside of the supermarket.

Possibly. Still, one can argue that the newest and the most shining money printing machine should sell for less than another that is not as new and pretty but prints much more money.

If you are a believer in quality companies who are leaders in their tech businesses regardless of how low their current demand situation is, I suggest you take a look at CORV - trading at a market cap of about half of its cash position, no debt, great position in DWDM optical telecom equip. sector. I am not a buyer until CORV shows an uptick in demand but it fits well with your "superb apples to rotten oranges" strategy. Take a look.
