Thanks for stirring the pot. This thread can use a good debate now and then. Unfortunately, too many people get emotional when challenged. It's easier to sling insults than it is to champion one's point of view.

I would suggest that one problem with shorting SCE stocks at this stage is that they are very close to the bottom of the cycle and that the turn is being anticipated, as we can see by the opinions of many of the residents here on this thread and by the way these stocks have been trading. P/Es are going to be astronomical (or nonexistent) at the bottom of the cycle. Since we can all agree that the bottom will only be viewed in hindsight, the lower these stocks get taken, the stronger the argument builds for buying - not shorting. However, if you believe that there will not be a recovery any time soon, then you should go with your point of view and short the sector or selected stock(s).
