his job is to insure Quebec does not leave and that has alienated the rest of Canada
So I have noticed. I've been to Canada numerous times and have fairly common contact with Canadian vistors to the US. There seems to be a great deal of disgruntlement at the federal gov't for what is viewed as the extreme measures the it will take to pacify the Quebecois.

A province of Canada has much more autonomy than a state of the USA.
That seems to be the case. At one time each state had a great deal of independence, but that has eroded.

It is possible for a province to exit Federation.
What must it do? Would the rest of the federation allow it?
There is even now nothing in the US Constitution that forbids secession. It is not even an issue, though. The US civil war made it clear that entering the Union was a one-way street.

the west has well financed right wing conservatives that want to leave.
Wonderful.

I would predict in ten years there will be more than one country north of 69, I mean 49...
We all know where your mind is. :-)

Wonderful. I think the US is better off with Canada intact.
