Lightning Strikes Twice: California Woman Hits Million Dollar Jackpots 10 Months Apart ... At the Same Casino!
PR Newswire - November 26, 2002 16:46

SAN DIEGO, Nov. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Real estate agent Ellen Lockwood is an extraordinarily lucky lady. On Thursday evening, the 52-year-old Escondido resident won a $945,531 jackpot on a Spooky(TM) Slots slot machine at Harrah's Rincon Casino & Resort located in northeast San Diego County. Harrah's Rincon Casino & Resort is owned and operated by the Rincon San Luiseno Band of Mission Indians.

What's remarkable about this jackpot is that it is not her first. On January 2 of this year Lockwood won a $1 million jackpot, also at Harrah's Rincon Casino & Resort, on the popular The $1,000,000 Pyramid(TM) slot machine.

Lockwood has not yet had time to think about what she's going to do with her winnings this time around. When asked what she was thinking just before the jackpot hit, she said, "I knew I was going to win! I'm a regular at this casino."

Tom Dingman, general manager of Harrah's Rincon Casino & Resort said that these two wins are truly remarkable. "For someone to win two large jackpots in their lifetime is unusual, but to have someone do it in the same year, at the same casino, it's like lightning striking twice!"

"We are thrilled for Mrs. Lockwood and for all of our winners this year," said Dingman. "We look forward to many more jackpots here at Harrah's Rincon Casino & Resort."

Developed and operated by IGT, the progressive jackpot system links slot machines from various casinos together to build a progressive jackpot that is generally larger than what an individual casino would be able to offer on its own. Both Spooky(TM) Slots and The $1,000,000 Pyramid(TM) jackpots are paid in their entirety upon verification.

The $125 million Harrah's Rincon Casino & Resort opened August 8, 2002. In addition to 45,000 square feet devoted to gaming, Harrah's features a luxury hotel with 200 spacious rooms and suites, six restaurants, and a 10,000 square-foot pavilion for meetings, seminars, and headlining entertainment, among other amenities. The casino is located at 777 Harrah's Rincon Way, Valley Center, California.
