Saddam Beats Blix Hans Down
November 26, 2002

A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll found that most of the American public thinks that a second resolution for war in Iraq would be necessary if Iraq fails the inspection.
Meanwhile, I see UN Chief Arms Inspector Hans "Cleaseau" Blix on TV - at the United Nations building in New York City! Does he think Saddam hid weapons under that building? If not, why isn't he over there combing the desert instead of having coffee with Kofi Annan?

This is sort of like O.J. looking for the killer on golf courses, isn't it? Here we have the world's greatest hider, Saddam Hussein, and Hans Blix is looking for his weapons at the UN! Remember the day the Iraqis accepted the resolution? The news channels went bonkers. Big deal! The date that matters is December 8th. That's when Saddam Hussein has to come clean about what he has - and he'd better do just that.

I made a prediction to you on that day: Saddam will say he can't possibly catalog everything by that date and ask for more time. They're already doing that, and Blix is inclined to go along as are many Americans according to this poll. Blixie has never found one weapon, so he'll probably give the dictator more time. It's just mind-boggling, this idea of giving Saddam more time to get The Bomb while we futz around at the UN. As far as I'm concerned, if Saddam doesn't come clean on the 8th, it's a material breach, and we send in the tomahawks. Case closed.
