Nth Generation Computers

With the emergence of "artificical," neural networks and parallel computers, this field is now not considered visionary but a necessary, practical area which is in desperate need of hardware. Japan and now th U.S.have targeted parallel processing as a prime goal. Japan has a massive Fifth Generation project and there is now a worldwide effort* to achieve goals for which ECD already has answer.

By combining elements of our prior technology with new approaches ,we have various proprietary, large-area,thin-film devices including three-dimensional,"smart"circuits that make possible new types of computers. A computer the size of a pocket calculator would have more power than a Cray supercomputer. Even more important, our proprietary computers can emulate brain functions. "Artificial intelligence"in existing computers can emulate brain functions "Artificial intelligence"in existing computers derives from software, not hardware, and has very limited application.

*The New York Times November 25, 1990 pg.1

Some of the first applications of our proprietary approach deal with character and auditory recognition, automation for industrial quality control,high-density memories and learning circuits for personal computer. These advances, as well as the advantages of our highly dense parallel neural network learning machine, permit many orders of magnitude advancement in the state of the art.

This time around,we have the opportunity denied us in the past as our basic concepts are now being widely accepted and the information industry recognizes the urgency of change. Here again,we have new opportunities for important alliances. We are getting another bite at the apple.

This was lifted from ECDs 1990 President's Letter Pages 14+15. Thought the board would be interested in reading it.
