Russian TransTeleCom Selects Portal Software to Launch Convergent Voiceand Data Services-Infranet Will Enable Telecommunications Provider to CapitalizeOn Growing Wireless Market in Russia
CUPERTINO, Calif., Nov 27, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Portal Software, Inc., (Nasdaq:PRSF), a leading provider of billing and customer management software, today announced that TransTeleCom, Russia's largest provider of broadband communications services, has selected Infranet(R), Portal's convergent billing solution. Portal will support TransTeleCom's new convergent voice and data services as well as interconnect relationships with other operators.

When looking to implement a customer management and billing platform, TransTeleCom needed a solution to support new voice and data services. The company required a flexible billing system that could support multiple pricing plans and integrate with its existing business systems and that would enable them to quickly gain market share and reduce the time from order to billing.

"Portal Software offers us a fully convergent and customizable solution with the most flexible pricing and rating capabilities," said Victor Rud, Deputy Chief Information Officer, TransTeleCom. "Portal's Infranet is easy to integrate, enables us to establish interconnect relationships easily with other operators, and will allow us to introduce new services quickly in order to meet the growing demands of our customers. Because we can now tightly control the way these new services and price plans are launched, Portal's technology will help us establish a new quality standard within Russia."

"TransTeleCom had made a huge investment in their broadband telecommunications infrastructure, which meant that they needed a best-of-breed solution that would provide quick return on their investment and allow them to offer new convergent services quickly," commented Alan Laing, Vice President and General Manager, EMEA, Portal Software. "We look forward to working with TransTeleCom and enabling them to be the first to launch sophisticated new voice and data services into a fast-expanding convergent marketplace."
