ss, I heard somewhere that more money was raised by VCs in the last couple years of the boom than had been invested by them in the prior 20 or 30 years. With almost $200 billion of "dry powder", they've got almost 10 years' worth of funding at current and pre-1999 rates of investment. Much more of this money should be returned to investors - there is no way it can be productively deployed in new ventures. It's overinvestment by VCs that led to there being some 243 CRM software vendors in existence. We need VCs to invest in good ideas, not big numbers.
