I liked the tunes.

Didn't know who James House was.

Google tried to convince me he was "A Victorian bed and
breakfast with views of Port Townsend Bay and the Olympic
Mountains."

I didn't think a Victorian would have such a country drawl.
I picture them to have more of a fine English accent.

So I kept tickling the search engine until it finally spit
out the answer.

James House

b. 21 March 1955, Sacramento, California, USA. His father
and his uncles sang a cappella country music, but House was
more interested in rock music as he grew up. He started
performing as a solo acoustic act but then formed his own
group, the House Band, which was signed to Warner and then
moved to Atlantic. He started to write country music and,
with the advent of more rock-based musicians in the genre
such as Steve Earle, he was signed to MCA. House made the
US country charts with "Don't Quit Me Now", "Hard Times For
A Honest Man", "You Just Get Better All The Time"
and "That'll Be The Last Thing". He acted as vocal coach
for Dustin Hoffman on the film Ishtar, and played a solo
acoustic set when he came to the UK with Randy Travis.

The other song was by another dude that I didn't know of
either.

Keith Whitley.

I found out he died at the age of 33.

Thanks for introducing me to another dude who wrote some
nice songs.

It was sorta funny...

I was playing your version of Don't Close Your Eyes and
then in my search I found:
geocities.com

It automatically started playing the same song but only I
didn't know it. It was a few bars behind.

It sounded like a cool version with a back up singer
repeating everything a few seconds after it was sung on
your version... It was in tune and on beat. How 'bout
that.

His wife Lorrie Morgan is purty and has a nice voice. Is
she a famous singer also?
