HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Nov 27, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Globecomm Systems Inc. (GCOM, Trade), a global provider of end-to-end satellite-based communications solutions, today announced the appointment of Mr. Daniel S. Van Riper to serve as a director and chairman of the audit committee of Globecomm Systems Inc. effective November 21, 2002.

Mr. Van Riper, a retired partner of KPMG LLP, is currently employed as special advisor to the management of Sealed Air Corporation, where he previously served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He is also a director of and chairs the audit committees of New Brunswick Scientific Co., Inc. and DOV Pharmaceutical, Inc.
