Aren't you on an endless belt to nowhere with responses like that?

No.

We are engaged in what I consider to be a key point.

Is the concept of importance absolute or situational? Is it contextual or noncontextual?

There are differences between ANY two things. Cells, hairs, bullet fragments, people, beasts, phyla, you name it.

The question is, are any of those differences always important? Is it axiomatically absurd ever to argue that the differences between man and beasts (where this discussion started) are unimportant? If so, then one must adopt the concept that at least in certain cases importance is always absolute and never situational.

Although Neo hasn't said so yet, and I'm reluctant to put those words in his mouth myself, it seems to me that inevitably that's the argument he's putting forward.

It's an argument I reject.

IMO that is a point worth debating.
