<< You tried to project the image that the Israelis are passive peace-loving folks. >> Peace loving, but, fortunately, not passive. << You mentioned that a people who had experienced the Holocaust would not want to revisit the horrors of war. Do you honestly believe that? >> Most people hate war and suffering. It puzzles me that you feel otherwise. << But the post-Holocaust Jews are a different people altogether. To a man they say, "Never again". That is, never again will they let others do that to them again. >> So, if you were Jewish, you wouldn't say "Never again"? If your family had been victims of great injustices, you wouldn't say "Never again"? Would you want your family and friends to be victimized again? You must have never known discrimination, or have never been a victim. You are lucky. Not knowing prejudice or blind hatred makes it very easy for you to want others to be passive. Fortunately, in the building of Israel, there were brave and just individuals who risked everything, in the hopes to provide a safe place for Jews fleeing from the brutality of Arabs and the Holocaust. So, my friend, erase "Never again" from your vocabulary. Hopefully, you will never need to worry about that concept. |
