Hearing that was amazing to me as well, Hawk. I remember the accuracy of the similar Stinger (or the older Redeye, if you remember that sucker) being described to me as practically absolute against aircraft below 1000 feet, especially if taking off, landing, or flying deliberately (gunships, transports conducting airborne operations, etc).

More unbelievable, in fact, is that the aircraft was missed by both of two such weapons fired at it, leading me to suspect that if those missiles were - as I suspect may be the case - captured by Afghan fighters in Afghanistan or Chechnya: perhaps age, bad storage, and/or rough handling has (quite luckily) affected their accuracy.
