It is OK to try to understand why a suicide bomber does what he does, and that should in no way be interpreted as excusing or endorsing that act.

Mani, well said.

When a liberal "understands" why a suicide bomber "does what he does", it is implicitly excusing the act. It is the same crap liberals do with all manner of criminals -- eliminate the concept of personal responsibility.

To "understand" why a suicide bomber kills babies is precisely the same thing as saying, "well, I can see WHY he did it". When you say, "I can see why he does it", it is effectively bringing about a conclusion that the behavior is reasonable. Which it isn't.

Well said? A totally self-conflicting statement, I'd say.
