Amendment II.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The usual argument advanced by the gun control side is about that word "militia". They argue that it means only the army can be armed. DUH! Ever hear of an army that wasn't armed? That seems pretty obvious, doesn't it? Why would you bother putting that in an amendemnt?

BUT they meaning of that word has changed since that amendment was written. At the time it was written, a state's "militia" was its male population of military age. THAT's what it was meant to cover.

A second argument is from Jefferson. He had more to do with those first ten amendments than Madison. He believed that for the people to retain liberty, a revolution would be necessary about every 20 or 30 years. How do you that without arms?

And why do you care? You're not an American any longer; you're really a Brit.

So how come the NRA doesn't legally challenge those laws as violations of the 2nd?
Have you asked them?
