You see "smart money" short selling and you think that is the cause of the decline. When public buying goes to extremes it is the market makers who have to sell to them. This leaves them net short. What you should look at as a "reason" or "culprit" for the decline is the ridiculous run up in price without subsequent money flow or earnings growth to support it.
