My only question is: do they have to all have to be near each other for feasibility in drilling or does that not matter.?

Gee I'm getting gun shy in explaining anything. The funny thing about that elusive substance oil, the trick is finding the traps. That 23 mi long structure could be gas and condensate, as the blowout proved. Is there source rock for oil their? Or is it in the other identified areas. Now the question to ask one self, how many wells will be drilled before they do find the traps? 1,5,10, 15, 20??? Then what is the permeability and porosity? That 23 mi stretch could have wells that only produce 400 bpd each. Again, it early to say really anything, one way or the other. Could be more; could be less. There the half empty side. In the ideal world, it would be great if those strucuture were close to one another. Also that 10% is their choice, to be fair about it. They can take 100,000 acres here 50,000 acres there and so forth, but here's the problem; don't mislead yourself thinking will take the middle of a field in that 10% and leave the outer edges for others.

The search for oil isn't a exact science however. You could spend tons of money to delineate a discovery. What that means is to determine the size of the puddle.
