The mechanism is the exercise of individual freedom by individuals. What more do you want? Something a little less vague, like how a bunch of lightly armed citizen soldiers would actually make a stand against the power of the state if it were to become necessary. Otherwise all they can preserve is a little more marsh to shoot ducks in. TP
