Ouch! This has to hurt all Brocade fans.

Tech names that will likely be deleted from the index include Applied Micro Circuits, Atmel Corp., Brocade Communications, Gemstar-TV Guide, and i2 Technologies the firm said.....

......This year's rebalancing will take place after the close of trading on Dec. 20, and the list of additions and deletions is expected to be released by Nasdaq on Dec. 16, Prudential said.

For a stock to be selected it must rank among the top 150 stocks on the Nasdaq stock market by market value, have an average daily trading volume of at least 100,000 shares and not be in the financial sector, among other conditions, said Prudential....

Beat the clock with residual puts, anyone?<g>

Seriously, note the rotation of leadership in the SAN sector from the primary switch vendors (BRCD, MCDTA, INRG) to the primary HBA vendors (QLGC, ELX) which has taken place during the last few months. Anyone think it the rotation will swing back in the switch vendors favor once Cisco settles in? At their respective peaks in 2000, BRCD had a market cap of nearly $30B while MCDTA peaked at nearly $15B. That was then, of course.
