I understand the basis for your argument. The issue Chris and X seem to be stressing is that things that matter on the basis of material or substantial differences may or may be of importance as a personal or practical issue. Another argument then that is being pushed is to determine how things qualify as mattering on the basis of personal vs societal importance. Two different discussions going on here.
