I think it is absurd to think that a plane during takeoff can survive with an engine blown off. And to assume that only the engine would be damaged is extremely optimistic.

I share your doubts but it is worth thinking about IMO. These planes may be tougher than we think. I hope we can get some expert opinions on this issue.

I'm pleased you like the thread -- it's great because of all the folks like you that pitch in every day. :o)
