9:40AM Navistar beats by 8 cents, issues Q1 guidance below consensus (NAV) 29.55: Reports Q4 (Oct) loss of $0.98 per share, $0.08 better than the Multex consensus of ($1.06); revenues rose 13.2% year/year to $1.99 bln. Co expects a Q1 loss of $1.45-$1.55, vs consensus of ($0.76); expects demand for Class 8 trucks to remain weak during 1H03, but demand is expected to improve in 2H03; co also said the underfunded liability of pension plans rose, and has reduced their 2003 rate of return assumptions to 9.0%.
