You will find the crew to be exceptionally busy in this worst case scenario.
There are ways to minimize the risk For example carry enough fuel for the flight plus reserve and no more.
The cost and risk is in removing surplus fuel for some flights Not too practical if you have 3 stops etc.
Gain flying speed more rapidly by staying low after lift-off
Here neighbors will complain of noise levels and the enemy may get a better shot. And air tarffic procedures would have to change for eveyone.
Gain altitude more rapidly and get swiftly out of range of the enemy, and that is the proposal being talked about
None of these are likely to be effective and I side with Mr Bush - nail those Terrorists where they live before thay can get over here or act anywhere.
