I've gone with this philosophy for my whole life: "what's best for all". However, I've observed that it often works against you.
I can't disagree with that. I left the office late one night, took the elevator down to the parking garage and took one step out of the elevator...laying on my back, I saw the sign "Caution Wet Floor" to my right.
Next morning, I called building management and made a complaint that the sign was unobservable from the elevator and they should mention to the cleaning staff to put the sign in front of the elevator door.
In an expression of concern, they asked if I was ok. In my case, a soft fleshy portion of my body took the brunt of the fall. A little bruised but none the worse for wear was my reply. To my surprise, in less than 10 minutes, there was a representative of the building management at my office door....Yes?....I have a piece of paper for you to sign that asserts that you suffered no injury from last night and that we, the building management, are not at fault.
Well, bless your little concerned heart.
I signed it, and I'd sign it again today. I've got to live my life the way I want to live it [within reason]. I can't worry about how the other moron wants to live their life.
