I hear you. Even i am trying to rebuild my account, my major losses were on long calls/leaps some tech/energy leaders, mind you i bought them after they were down 50%-60%,, not much on ES/NQ so far. I am long on gold stocks too, but there is not much appreciation so far...
One idea about ES is, how about always have protective calls/puts against one position. I looked at this, but there is not much liquidity in ES options and the spread is almost 2/- ; This is the only way, for me, to play ES/NQ swing trades. Have you ever considered this option on ES/NQ? Also on OEX options, I see spread of almost $1/- and again not that liquid. Is it true most of the time?
What you said about narrow vertical spreads is very true. I have to carry them till expiration, if I want to any money and that too, if it is in my direction. I am long puts on QQQ MAR28 and short on DEC26. Hopefully I will make some money on that trade. |
