OT re "the industry adopted a voluntary code of sales conduct in July that emphasizes educating, rather than entertaining, physicians."

This fig leaf fools nobody except the credulous public. Clever people can define any sales pitch as "education". There is almost as much conflict of interest in medicine, as there is in politics or the securities industry. I remember reading an article a while ago, saying that the drug/medical-products industry spends about 1500$ per year per physician, in the U.S., on advertising/"education"/sales-pitches/bribes.
