i hear ya again, and this scenario is in the back of mind but seems alot of posters i read are also looking for another high and thats bothersome
Why do you find that bothersome? Do you expend special effort making sure you read only those posters who are unmitigated morons?
You don't really think, do you, that the handfull of posters any of us reads is representative of anything more than what they are, i.e., a non-representative slice of a non-representative sub-universe of a minority of a ... etc?
yes there is a possiblity we have 5-7% more upside from the recent highs
Why only 5-7% more upside? Where is it written that the powers that be cannot push this thing higher if they really want to?
I know, I know, trend line X or moving average Y or pivot point Z has NEVER been violated during this whole bear market, so it simply cannot be now --
... or ...
there is this particular a-b-c-d, which leads to G, which brings us back to "doe," and that absolutely cannot be violated --
... or ...
Everything is overbought, and we haven't backed and filled enough, so we have to crash now...
... or ...
BP-this and BP-that topped out at XYZ in the great thingamajigger of 1653...
... or ...

It all means N-O-T-H-I-N-G
This thing has gone up for no other reason I can see except that going up is on the agenda of some people with power and money which we peons simply cannot imagine.
You want to see how they do it? Take a look at these charts -- 21 of them in all -- of SOX, BTK, and BKX in daily, 240 minute, 120 minute, 60 minute, 30 minute, 15 minute, and 5 minute time frames. Just look at the indicators rolling happily up and down on everything except the dailies -- where they stay mostly in the upper range, thus convincing us all that this thing is about to implode.
Da boyz have created a nifty little mini-bubble for themselves, but the delicate machinery with which they control it is only visible on intra-day charts. A little more hot air here; let out a little bit there; keep that puppy floating merrily along, but don't let the pissants see what you're doing...
It's really a masterful performance -- by whomever.
SO WHAT'S THE FARKING POINT OF THIS BABBLING DIATRIBE MAN?!
The point is, if you think you have ANY "visibility" (as Smiling John and his ilk like to say) beyond 1-3 days from now, you are living in a fantasy land, or you've been taking too many hits off the old glue bong.
