I think I have a view of the world that is realistic. I'm a patriotic American, just like the next guy. I want our country to be the best possible country it can be. I think there is a lot we could do to improve our image in the world.
But, the sad fact is that we have indiscriminately killed cillians in many wars. Perhaps that's just part of the messy business of war. But, the facts are the facts. Do you know how many cillians we indiscriminately killed in IndoChina in the 1960s and 1970s? Millions? How about Panama in 1989? 2,000 or 3,000. How about the Gulf War in 1991? 100,000s. No, I don't think the U.S. is better than any other imperialistic power that has dominated this world. We kill enemy combatants and innocent civllians alike to achieve our military, economic and politcal goals. Those are the facts. I wish we didn't do so. But, I can't deny reality. I can try to change it. But, I can't deny it. When war happens (no matter who is waging it, the U.S. or any other country), civilians die because they are in the way. That's reality. |
