I think either party being in the Democrats position of this past election probably would have made mistakes. Hindsight is 20/20 as we know. The Republicans were smart by removing the economy from the agenda and replacing it with the Iraq 'threat' being that there was no immediate threat from Al Qaeda. The Democrats were then forced to try and get out their own message while at the same time trying to appear cooperative with the popular president. It is impossible to even debate the Iraq situation in America and the Republicans used it to their full advantage. The Democrats probably would have done the same.

Let's face it, does anybody really believe that Harvey Pitt resigned by his own accord on election night? What could have been a solid blow to the Republicans became almost a nonevent.

Well that's obvious, or else we wouldn't be in Iraq, and we'd instead be following the advice of Pat "Kick the UN out of Manhattan" Buchanan.>

Being reactionary is a lot different. America would not be thinking of war in Iraq had the events of September 11th not happened.

What does Pat Buchanan have to do with anything? If he was in power America would have a lot more problems than it does now.
