Like almost the entire technology industry (hardware and software). Sure, other companies can copy US technology, but 90% of innovation comes from US companies. Some advancements come from outside the US, but the countries that provide these advancements have wage rates similar to the US (ie. Japan).

The areas of the world that have lower wage rates are not and will not be the leaders in almost any type of technological advancement. At least not for the forseeable future.

And yes, the technology industries are a huge and growing part of the world economy. The US is the leader, by a huge margin.

Other areas include Science (ie biotech), Military, Aircraft, etc. etc.

IMO,
Dave
