We can't talk about the world's reactions to US actions? Isn't how the world views America central to FADG? I don't understand.

I think two things are getting mixed up here. I, for one, agree with you that discussions of the rising tide of anti-Americanism around the globe are essential parts of our conversations here. But that's one thing. The other is to accuse the "loyal opposition" in American politics of anti-Americanism because they are critical of policies of the Bush administration. That's what I'm responding to.

I've been trying to think of a parallel thing and I just realized the last post I sent Bill had the ingredients, I just didn't work it out. You may recall that Jerry Fallwell and, I think, Pat Robertson said, after 9-11, that the attack was retribution from god for gays and lesbians, or some such. If I then said, well we now know where the right stands in this country, that would be the same thing. And then analyzed the political right in this country as if that gave us its fundamentals.
