everyone works directly or indirectly for the government

What we are under is closer to the definition of "fascism", as developed by Musellini in 1930's. That definition includes large corporations as partners with the government, and lack of any citizen participation, such as voting or disclosure of government / business activities.

That's the assumption by our so-called "leaders", who have turned on its head the notion of being "public servants" and instead feel the American people owe them fealty, and they owe no explanations, or unscripted news conferences.

Both Hitler and Musellini gained their first and continuing large support from the corporate interests in exchange for breaking the labor unions and "socialist" activities that reduced profit.

In three areas the leadership of the US are using threats and constant war planning to achieve a 21st century version of fascism: (1)media control (see "Mighty Wurlitzer" as a topic), (2)secrecy of all state information, (3)control of citizen information, i.e., no privacy, (4)corporate partners for "soft money" and as conduits for state policy and spying on databases, and (5)propaganda designed to motivate citizens to not ask questions, and be suspicious of their neighbors.

All of this is blown away by full disclosure of public programs and personnel, full accountability of every dollar, and transparency in decision-making. Which are all things the leadership will fight most strongly against.

It is estimated that 70% of the overseas CIA budget is for disinformation and propaganda. Not disclosed but suspected is that domestic budget of the intelligence agencies is the same format, human assets to control opinion as a majority of the domestic black budget.

An interesting book from one of the leaders of MI5 in England talks about discussions with CIA and NSA individuals and scope. It's a non-fiction called "Spycatcher", and was banned in England at one time.
