That's a serious question: Is this what we are to expect here at home? Will the American people put up with the death of cities?

Here's what Bush-League's Rumsfeld had to say about the prospect of daily terrorism:

"I can live with that"

How many Americans agree?

If Americans were truly represented, and had the chance, they would be fired in a moment, those who declared such abject failure as the acceptable baseline. This is not "Rumsfeldville" or "Bushville" -- maybe there's someplace that will accept the notion of continuing violence on the streets as "just the way it has to be", while stuffing themselves with political and financial profits.

But this is America. We don't accept that kind of failure of our way of living. Unless, of course, we have no leadership and no media to express that simple and powerful creed. Apparently, as Americans we are now to believe that every one of us is cowed into "terrorism is inevitable, we have to have a worldwide Bush war" line.

After near universal regard by the non-Muslim countries after 9/11, the rest of the world now thinks very little of the Bush vision of America. And no wonder.
