OK, no hard feelings :)
I certainly would pour the wine. I dont know about the chair--womens lib and all that.

Maybe in the US. We still appreciate such niceties from men rather than taking out their eyes for holding our chairs :)

I am concerned that these arguments lead nowhere. We have our positions.

I beg to differ. "Positions" are not cast in stone. Understanding where the other is coming from is essential to "Peace", which most Americans mistakenly believe will come from crushing the opponent. THIS IS A TOTAL MISCONCEPTION BY YOU OF THE NATURE OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. AND IN ANY CASE HOW SHOULD A WAR BE FOUGHT. PLEASE ANSWER USING SERBIA AS AN EXAMPLE. HOW SHOULD WE HAVE FOUGHT THAT WAR FOR YOU EUROPEANS SO YOU WOULD APPROVE. IF YOU DONT LIKE THE WAY WE FIGHT YOU SHOULD DEFEND YOURSELVES, NO.

The whole purpose of my life was to pass on a better life and world to my children and grandchildren. I have failed at that.

I cannot see how it is your own fault. THIS IS AN AMERICAN TRAIT--A JEWISH ONE TOO. I FEEL I HAVE THAT EVERY PERSON HAS AN OBLIGATION TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE. I THINK THAT I/WE HAVE FAILED PERHAPS MY NOT DEALING WITH THE UNDERLYING PROBLEMS AS YOU SUGGEST. OR PERHAPS ITS THE EUROPEANS AND THE MIDEASTENERS WHO HAVE NOT DEALT. LOOK AT RUANDA AND TELL ME WHO IS WORSE THAN THE FRENCH IN THIS REGARD.

Now all i can do is to try to make it safer by first killing the bad guys and second attacking the problems that spawn them. #1 comes before #2 and thats probably where we differ most profoundly

What you are describing is "symptomatic treatment", YES which, as any medical professional will tell you, is not only ineffective but also extremely dangerous, for it allows the disease to spread while giving you the illusion that you are getting better. ONLY TRUE IF YOU DO THE LATTER. RID THE WORLD OF BIN LADEN AND BUILD UP THE MIDEAST--EXACTLY WHAT WE DID WITH GERMANY AND JAPAN POST WW2. WASNT THAT A GREAT STORY--BETTER THAN THE FRENCH AT VERSAILLES
