Nope! He turned it down to save his own ass, not because all efforts at thuggery and murder had not been explored yet. He would have been murdered by any of the rival factions at home had he accepted the "peace" deal. By turning it down Arafat was able to brag later on that he turned the tables on Israel and the US.

Perhaps this was sheer propaganda: according to the Palestinians the land offer was a joke as more than 90% of the land offered is useless desert.

IMHO, we would not be having all this Middle East problems if Israel were located on the island of Madagascar (off South Africa) as was once proposed by the big powers before the British Mandate of 1948.

It is not fair that the problems in the Middle East should be holding the world to ransom, in a manner of speaking. A quick solution, as someone had suggested, is to nuke all in that region to Kingdom Come! However, I would suggest all folks there be given sufficient time to get their ass outta there before nuking the region.

To be sure, a sad consequence of that is this thread will cease to exist! and with that all the fun and self-importance some folks can enjoy by posting here.
