My recall is that Anssi was asked a question by someone from China Unicom about when or what was holding up Nokia doing 1xRTT handsets in China. His answer was simply the bureaucratic process as opposed to politics or whatever. Jorma commented on the same thing in the closing Q&A and said that the bureaucratic process simply takes time. He also talked about research and R&D they had done in conjunction with the Chinese related to 1xRTT.

That matches my memory of their comments as well.

I was amazed at how much time was spent discussing CDMA (particuarly during the Q&A's). I would have thought more time would have spent trying to get specifics on the issues associated with W-CDMA.

A CDMA version of the 21xx would be a decent handset....but, personally I am hoping that Nokia's rhetoric about commitment to CDMA translates to CDMA versions of handsets like the 3650 and the 3510i. I still believe that the transition to color is going to happen more quickly than generally believed. Nokia is ahead of the curve in GSM (Siemens is in trouble).....but needs to get on the ball in CDMA.
