Communists during the same period were being told to exterminate aristocrats, "kulaks" (wealthy peasants), shopkeepers and professionals, capitalists, "deviationist" party members and eventually Jews as well. The murder of all these was justified because they were "class enemies."

It's interesting how the right-wing bias pervades every corner of our society. To overlook the capitalists' call to exterminate communists of every stripe is stunning. That's a major part of 20th century history that the author has omitted. Most notably, he highlights the Nazi assault on Jews, but not the Nazi assault on Communists. And this is written by someone who appears quite reasonable.
